Charity music project “Blue Sky” (in support of Ukrainian children and their families)

Cover by Diego Branco

Six months after Russia’s military invasion started in Ukraine, the number of civilian casualties which are still being caused by airstrikes and missile attacks continues to grow. More than 12 million people have crossed the border and fled Ukraine. A lot of people return home either because of the difficulties of refugee life abroad or to help their relatives evacuate and find shelter. Returnees who choose to return to their devastated homes destroyed by heavy bombing also need additional support. Currently, the world media coverage of this unjustified and cruel war is decreasing, and this tragedy is getting less and less attention. We would like to kindly ask for your cooperation and participation in this project, the goal of which is to support the people of Ukraine by making the most out of what we can do, rather than just donating and being supportive.

Below is provided general information about our charity music project.

Project name: Blue Sky.
The blue color is a color of the clear peaceful sky, and exactly this meaning is also represented by the blue color in the Ukrainian national flag (along with the yellow color which represents a wheat field). And we would like to ask for your cooperation in order to support the restoration of peace in Ukraine.

Purpose: Providing support to Ukrainian children and their families.
On August 22, 2022, according to the United Nations survey, an average of five children are dying or were injured every day in the last six months. A lot of deaths are said to be caused by the delay in rescue, so the shortage of ambulances is currently a great concern in many countries.

Goal setup: Donation funds of 9 million yen (the cost of one ambulance).
We started a charity music project with the help of which we expect to raise a total amount of 9 million Japanese yen and buy an ambulance for the donated money. We hope this initiative will help to save more lives not only of the Ukrainian children but of everyone who needs an emergency rescue in Ukraine.

Active Time: Till August 24, 2023
The deadline for the Blue Sky Project is August 24, 2023 (Ukraine’s Independence Day). After this date, we will donate the amount collected through United24 (https://u24.gov.ua/) even if the target amount has not been reached at that time. We will keep doing our best to contribute to bringing peace to Ukraine.

Methods/means: Each of us does what we know how to do best.
Lily, the founder of the project, is a Ukrainian singer who supports her country and people through music. Eiichi Saeki, a Japanese composer/producer, also participates in the project as a supporter. Donations will be collected through song sales on Bandcamp. Besides financial support, our goal is also to provide moral support to the Ukrainian people by utilizing the ideas and talents of the creative volunteer participants.
